MSJC Communication Club Member Rob interviews one of our upcoming TEDx MSJC speakers, Ryan Henderson, to gain insight into his background and focus with his presentation, “Biological Connections to the Living World.”
Here’s the description from MSJC’s TEDx page: Biological Connections to the Living World I will explore how the structure and function of all life on this planet is connected. I will also speak to how those delicate connections are disrupted, both knowingly and unknowingly, through pollution. Specifically, I will highlight how the pollution of our waterways and the lack of raw sewage regulation present a clear and present danger to human health that extends far beyond a typical message regarding infectious diseases and ultimately, conservation. Pollution robs people of the opportunity to connect with the living world around them.
Ryan Henderson is a father, husband, soccer coach, and classically trained immunologist whose graduate research focused on understanding immune system exhaustion during chronic viral infection. This virology and immunology expertise gave way to fourteen-year research career focusing on vaccine discovery, non-pathogenic human diseases, and efforts in developing drugs to combat rare cancers. Ryan’s lifelong passion has always been teaching and he has been a faculty member with MSJC since 2011. He currently teaches Microbiology and other biology courses at the Temecula Valley Campus.
