Editor’s note:
“Wuxing: The Nature Dialectic” had layers, and it engaged with the prompt in a unique and thoughtful way. The use of Hegelian dialectics to address humanity’s relationship with the environment was novel; the synthesis of mankind’s power with the seemingly revolutionary potential of nature offers something of an answer to society’s destructive relationship with the world it resides in. The blending of Western and Eastern philosophical modes of thought has much the same effect. Unwrapping all of these layers was a delight, and we are honored to have read a piece as evocative as this.
