Major:  Journalism

Hello there! My name is Kayla Lewis, and I am a journalism major. I am also pursuing at least a minor in digital media. I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and an equally proud U.S. Navy veteran. I have a background in nuclear engineering, but my passion has always been people. I love to hear new stories and get a chance to see something from someone else’s perspective. I absolutely adore writing and editing which makes the Talon a perfect fit for me. I am also a published poet, you may have seen some of my work in the Talon! Finally, I am building my own photography and photojournalism business, Poetically Outspoken Photography (POP). I want to give people a safe place to tell their stories. Sometimes that means a good old fashioned interview and photoshoot, and other times it means an off the record conversation that inspires a new poem to share with the world.
