Since the closure of all campuses on March 13, everyone at MSJC has been working hard to transition courses to an online format, and make it possible for teachers and students to finish the rest of the semester. We cannot thank our faculty, staff and students enough for their dedication through this difficult time.
In regards to The Talon, publishing a physical newspaper did not seem like a possible option, nor could we get our information out to our students in a convenient way. Fortunately, with the help of online technology, we were able to create a website on WordPress and make our own transition online! This gives our team a lot to work with in terms of creativity. We’re able to share stories with photos, videos, and links to make the experience more interactive.
Our mission is to inform and entertain our readers and give students a platform for their voices to be heard. Distancing ourselves can be lonely, stressful, and even just flat out boring. We, The Talon, want to hear from you on how you’re doing during this time and what you’ve been up to. We want to know what movies or shows you’re watching, video games you’re playing, music you’re listening to, the food you’re indulging in, all of it! Your life is interesting and can help inspire others and reassure that we’re in this together.
So if you have a story to tell, please visit our Contact Us page or email us at [email protected]. If you have any videos to share, please share them through our Instagram or Facebook pages and we will share them with our school.
We are also looking for new Talon members! If you are interested in writing, editing, or designing for our news site and social media, please email us to join the team! We are currently holding Zoom meetings on Mondays at 12:45 p.m., but we are flexible with our times and always available to help bring your creativity to the team.
