Two Injured One Dead in Shooting in Old Town Temecula

On January 9th, 2022, at 10:22 PM officers from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired in front of a restaurant on the 28600 block of Old Town Temecula. Officers found 3 victims with gunshot wounds and emergency medical aid was rendered.   One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Officers secured the scene and the Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation. The initial investigation found that all three victims were standing on the patio of the restaurant when the shots were fired. It is unclear at this time what led to the shots being fired as the investigation is ongoing. According to the sheriff’s department the deceased victim was identified as Desmond Dyas, 28 years old of Hemet. The identity of the surviving victims will not be released.

The alleged shooter fled on foot but were later apprehended, they were identified as Kevin Hatchett Jr, 24 of Wildomar who was booked on charges of murder and two counts of attempted murder, and Nickolas Trichanh, 21 of Corona, was booked on a charge of accessory to murder.
